ACT information is available in the Guidance Office. It is your responsibility to sign up and pay by the deadlines. You can register online @www.act.org.

 

SENIORS:  OSU requires ACT scores sent directly from testing agency.  Please mark OSU as score recipient when registering for ACT/SAT. Other schools may require scores sent directly from ACT…check on the college website.

 

SENIORS:  If you apply to a college/university online, you MUST let your counselor know so we can mail a transcript.  Your application will not be processed without a high school transcript.

 

SENIORS:  Please turn in a copy of your Activities Resume to the guidance office.  We will use that when making student nominations for awards, etc.

 

If you are a current sophomore or junior and are interested in taking any College Credit Plus courses during the 2018-2019 school year, you must have the qualifying ACT scores.

The February ACT exam is the last acceptable test date for CCP qualification.  Please check the registration deadline.  If you are considering CCP for the following school year, you MUST take the ACT by February and receive the required scores -  be reminded that you have the  October, December and February ACT exam dates.

Ohio's only college solely devoted to aviation will be at the Props & Pistons Air Show on Sept. 9-10 at Akron Fulton Airport, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. both days.  The attached flier has more information & additional details are available at www.flyohio.org.  Please share this with any students who are interested in a career as a commercial pilot or would like to earn a Private Pilot Certificate.

 

UNITED STATES SERVICE ACADEMIES:  If you are interested in attending one of the US service academies, you will need a nomination from a member of the US Congress.  For incoming seniors who are interested in attending an academy entering the summer of 2018, the deadline to submit a completed application packet to Senator Brown and/or Senator Portman's offices isSeptember 22, 2017.  Interested students can request an application by visiting Senator Portman's or Senator Brown's websites and typing: Service Acdemy Application Request Form in the search box.  Interested freshmen, sophomores and juniors are encouraged to reach out to Suzanne Cox at Senator Portman's office at 614-469-6774 or Sue Klein at Senator Brown's office at 216-522-7272 for information about the seminars that will be held throughout the state in the month of April.  Liaison officers from the Naval, Military, Air Force, and Merchant Marine academies will be present to speak and to answer questions at the April seminars.  In addition, the Academy Coordinators will discuss the congressional nomination process.  Students who want to apply to a US service academy should start the process their junior year.

 

CEMENT MASONS AND PLASTERERS JOINT APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM:  The Cement Masons Local #179 Joint Apprentice Program is accepting applications for the 2018 apprentice classes.  Deadline to apply is Friday, November 17, 2017.  Applications can be received by calling Howard Agueda at 330-539-6050 or the Union Hall at 330-799-9600.  Completed applications can be dropped off at the Union Hall at 5204 Mahoning Ave, Suite 108, Youngstown, Ohio 44515 on Monday-Thursday from 9am -12 noon.  Completed applications can also be mailed to Cement Masons Local #179 JATC, PO Box 488, Vienna, OH 44473.  Apprentices will be paid during the 3 year program and upon completion can earn $29.30 per hour with an additional $18.00 in benefits.  Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma, be physically capable of performing work, be able to pass drug screen and physical, have a driver's license and reliable transportation.

 

Anyone interested in wrestling for the 2017-2018, we will begin open mat and weightlifting every Tuesday and Thursday starting September 5th.  This will take place at Roosevelt Gym from 6pm-8pm.

The Eastwood Mall Fashion Advisory Board (FAB) is now taking applications.  Applicants must be at least 16 years old.  As a member of FAB, you will participate in a variety of mall events including fashion shows, fashion photo shoots, retail events and mall promotions.  If you are interested, please pick up an application from Mrs. Killian in the main office and take the completed application to the interview session at the Eastwood Mall Community Room on Wednesday, Sept. 27 from 4 pm - 5 pm..

This year the Cheerleaders will be raising awareness for Breast Cancer by selling items for the football games on their “Spirit Stand” every Thursday and Friday during lunch mods. CEMENT MASONS AND PLASTERERS JOINT APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM:  The Cement Masons Local #179 Joint Apprentice Program is accepting applications for the 2018 apprentice classes.  Deadline to apply is Friday, November 17, 2017.  Applications can be received by calling Howard Agueda at 330-539-6050 or the Union Hall at 330-799-9600.  Completed applications can be dropped off at the Union Hall at 5204 Mahoning Ave, Suite 108, Youngstown, Ohio 44515 on Monday-Thursday from 9am -12 noon.  Completed applications can also be mailed to Cement Masons Local #179 JATC, PO Box 488, Vienna, OH 44473.  Apprentices will be paid during the 3 year program and upon completion can earn $29.30 per hour with an additional $18.00 in benefits.  Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma, be physically capable of performing work, be able to pass drug screen and physical, have a driver's license and reliable transportation.

UNITED STATES SERVICE ACADEMIES:  If you are interested in attending one of the US service academies, you will need a nomination from a member of the US Congress.  For incoming seniors who are interested in attending an academy entering the summer of 2018, the deadline to submit a completed application packet to Senator Brown and/or Senator Portman's offices isSeptember 22, 2017.  Interested students can request an application by visiting Senator Portman's or Senator Brown's websites and typing: Service Acdemy Application Request Form in the search box.  Interested freshmen, sophomores and juniors are encouraged to reach out to Suzanne Cox at Senator Portman's office at 614-469-6774 or Sue Klein at Senator Brown's office at 216-522-7272 for information about the seminars that will be held throughout the state in the month of April.  Liaison officers from the Naval, Military, Air Force, and Merchant Marine academies will be present to speak and to answer questions at the April seminars.  In addition, the Academy Coordinators will discuss the congressional nomination process.  Students who want to apply to a US service academy should start the process their junior year.

 

CEMENT MASONS AND PLASTERERS JOINT APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM:  The Cement Masons Local #179 Joint Apprentice Program is accepting applications for the 2018 apprentice classes.  Deadline to apply is Friday, November 17, 2017.  Applications can be received by calling Howard Agueda at 330-539-6050 or the Union Hall at 330-799-9600.  Completed applications can be dropped off at the Union Hall at 5204 Mahoning Ave, Suite 108, Youngstown, Ohio 44515 on Monday-Thursday from 9am -12 noon.  Completed applications can also be mailed to Cement Masons Local #179 JATC, PO Box 488, Vienna, OH 44473.  Apprentices will be paid during the 3 year program and upon completion can earn $29.30 per hour with an additional $18.00 in benefits.  Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma, be physically capable of performing work, be able to pass drug screen and physical, have a driver's license and reliable transportation.

 

Anyone interested in wrestling for the 2017-2018, we will begin open mat and weightlifting every Tuesday and Thursday starting September 5th.  This will take place at Roosevelt Gym from 6pm-8pm.

This year the Cheerleaders will be raising awareness for Breast Cancer by selling items for the football games on their “Spirit Stand” every Thursday and Friday during lunch mods. They will be selling themed and general items for that Friday’s football game ! All proceeds will be going to Breast Cancer Awareness ! (Carter)

If you are a current sophomore or junior and are interested in taking any College Credit Plus courses during the 2018-2019 school year, you must have the qualifying ACT scores.

The February ACT exam is the last acceptable test date for CCP qualification.  Please check the registration deadline.  If you are considering CCP for the following school year, you MUST take the ACT by February and receive the required scores -  be reminded that you have the  October, December and February ACT exam dates.   

 

We will have a CCP Information Night on Monday, November 20 at 7 pm in the high school media center.

Students if you are involved in leadership activities through community service - have extra-curricular activities in and out of school - you can nominate yourself for 20 Under Twenty.  20 Under Twenty honors individuals for their leadership skills through volunteerism, extra curricular and academic achievements.
