Ohio Operating Engineers Apprenticeship: Operating Engineers build roads, bridges, dams and assist in construction of large buildings and other structures. The work is divided into 2 classifications - operating the equipment used in construction or repairing the earth moving equipment. There is a four year apprenticeship program requirement. Mahoning Valley Structural Iron Workers Apprenticeship: The Iron Workers Joint Apprenticeship Program is currently accepting applications for a new class of Iron Workers. Up completion of the 4 year apprenticeship program, the current pay rate for Journeymen Iron Workers is $28.92 per hour with an additional $25.24 in benefits. Apprentices do get paid during their 4 year program (1st year apprentice: $17.35 per hour plus benefits; 2nd year: $20.24 per hour plus benefits; 3rd year: $23.14 per hour plus benefits; $26.03 per hour plus benefits). Cement Masons and Plasterers Joint Apprenticeship Program: The Cement Masons Local #179 Joint Apprenticeship Program is accepting applications from potential apprentice candidates at the Cement Masons Union Hall at 5204 Mahoning Ave., Suite 108, Youngstown, Ohio 44515 on Mondays - Thursdays from 9:00 am - 12:00 noon. Miami University: Bridge Program - The Bridges Program is an overnight visit experience for high-achieving high school seniors from historically underrepresented populations or who have a commitment to promoting a deeper understanding of and appreciation for diversity. Students representing different racial/ethnic, sexual orientation and gender identity, and socioeconomic backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Students who complete the program, apply, are accepted, and enroll on the Oxford campus for Fall 2019 will be eligible to receive the Bridges Program scholarship. Last year, the Bridges Program scholarship ranged from $2,500 to $5,000 annually. YSU COFSP Summer Math Bridge Program: The COFSP Summer Math Bridge is a free 4-week on-campus program intended to support and enhance the math skills of high school students who are interested in pursuing a STEMM major in college. Particularly, the program addresses the gap in knowledge that often occurs between Algebra II and Pre-Calculus/Calculus. Eligible participants must be currently enrolled in (or have already completed) algebra II and must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
