Hubbard High School Announcements

October 3rd, 2019

No afterschool homework help this Thursday due to an afterschool staff meeting.

Attention Seniors: Please bring your updated shot records to Ms. Eger ASAP!!

Seniors who have not signed up for yearbook senior pictures—See Mrs. Schellhorn in room 107 to sign-up for your appointment at Memory Lane. The sessions are on Friday, Oct. 11. You can also call Memory Lane to schedule. 330-759-4005

There are yearbooks still available to purchase. If you missed out on the 2019 yearbook, you are in luck. The printing company sent a number of extra books this year. The cost is 75 dollars, see Mrs. Schellhorn in room 107 to reserve your copy.

This year’s Fall Homecoming festivities will be the week of October 7th. The Homecoming parade will be held on Friday, October 11th starting at 5:30. The parade will start at the high school and will end at the stadium with the crowning of the King and Queen that will take place before the game. The dance will be held on Saturday, October 12th from 7:00 to 10:00. The dance will be held at Tiffany’s Banquet Hall in Brookfield. Tickets will be on sale in the cafeteria during all lunch mods starting on Monday, Sept. 30. All tickets are $25.00 each and include a buffet dinner. There will be absolutely no ticket sales at the door, so get your tickets early!! Remember that the dress code is in effect for the dance.

If you are planning to bring someone from a different school, you must stop in the office to get a permission form from Mrs. Rentz. All guests must be a current student at an accredited high school. All forms are due no later than Friday, October 5th. NO EXCEPTIONS

Thursday: Black Out (senior class picture)

Friday: Game Night USA

The senior class picture will be taken on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 1:10. Please wear black. Seniors who leave early, please plan to come back for the picture. TCTC students will be bussed back to Hubbard.

Clubs

Attention all Spanish Club Members:

The $30 fundraiser money is due to Mrs. Badurik in Room 111 by Monday, October 7th. Checks written to Hubbard High School are preferred.

Attention all Drama Club fans, if you are interested in doing stage crew or sound and lighting for our fall play Alice in Wonderland, please sign up with Miss Davis in room 202 by this Friday October 4. Practices for stage crew will begin next week.

Attention all girls grades 9-12. Do you like getting ready with your girlfriends before a big event? Well then SADD has the event for you! Get Ready With Us will be held on Saturday October 12 from 10am-2pm in the HS Cafeteria. This is a free event where girls can come and help one another get ready for Homecoming. You can come to hang out or get a service done for free. We will be offering hair, makeup and nail services. If you are interested in coming, or having something done, please sign up in your lunch mods. If you have questions please see Miss Davis or ask a member of SADD.

Voting for Ecology Club officers will take place today, Wednesday, October 2nd in room 211. Please stop by in between classes or at the end of the day to vote.

Sports

Varsity Boys Basketball, open gym will be Wednesday October 2nd from 5:30-7:30 pm in the middle school gym and Thursday October 3rd from 6-8pm in the High School Gym. This for students not in fall sports.

Open Gym girls basketball grades 7-12 will be on the following dates:

Wednesday, October2nd at the Middle School Gym from 3-5 pm

Thursday, October 3rd at the Middle School Gym from 4-6

Guidance

Seniors: The 2020-2021 FAFSA is now available!! Please be sure to check the financial aid deadline at the school you will be applying to for next year and have your FAFSA on file by that deadline!!! Remember, the FAFSA is your key to financial aid. The guidance website has a Financial Aid Information tab that has a multitude of information about FAFSA.

Sophomores: Youth Leadership Mahoning Valley is now accepting applications. This leadership program is recognized by colleges nationwide and is a great asset to an activities resume. Applications are available from Mrs. Hinkle in the guidance office and are due by Nov 1. There is a $200 tuition fee to participate.

Hubbard High School will be having our CCP Informational meeting for parents and students on Thursday, October 10 at 7pm in the high school media center.

YSU will be having their Financial Aid meeting on Tuesday, October 22 at 6:30 pm in Kilcawley Center Chestnut Room on the YSU campus. To register, go to: www.ysu.edu/finaid/night

Student Athletes: NCAA eligibility requires all ACT / SAT test scores be sent directly to NCAA. When registering for ACT/SAT you must use NCAA Code 9999. If you have questions, see your guidance counselor.

ACT information is available in the Guidance Office. It is your responsibility to sign up and pay by the deadlines. You can register online @www.act.org.

SENIORS: OSU requires ACT scores sent directly from the testing agency. Please mark OSU as score recipient when registering for ACT/SAT. Other schools may require scores sent directly from ACT...check on the college website.

SENIORS: If you apply to a College/University online, you MUST let your counselor know so we can mail a transcript. Your application will not be processed without a high school transcript.

SENIORS: Please turn in a copy of your Activities Resume to the guidance office. We will use that when making student nominations for awards, etc.

Thinking about what school to attend after graduation? Check out College Night at the Eastwood Mall on Thursday October 10 from 5 - 7 pm. Reps from over 60 colleges will be on hand to answer questions and provide information.

CCP Information: Current sophomores and juniors that are interested in taking College Credit Plus courses NEXT year must have the qualifying ACT scores to be eligible for the program. The February ACT date is the LAST test date that can be used for CCP qualification. That means that you have the October, December and February ACT test dates. It is your responsibility to get signed up for the ACT by the registration deadline. You can sign up at act.org. If you need help signing up for the ACT, please see guidance.

Sophomores: HOBY is now accepting registrations for the 2020 Leadership Conference. The conference will be held on the YSU campus from June 4 - June 7. This is a great leadership program and can be added to your activities resume. The cost is $225.00. If you are interested, drop off an activities resume to Mrs. Hinkle in the guidance office by October 4.

Homework Help is Monday thru Thursday 2:30 - 3:30. Please sign in and be on time.
