Student Announcements

Attention all Students: CHECK YOUR SCHEDULES

Freshman must have: English, Math, Physical Science, World History, Phys. Ed or PE. opt out and Electives.

Sophomores must have: English, Math, Biology, U.S. History, Phys. Ed or PE opt out, Health (If not taken in 9th grade) and Electives.

Juniors must have: English, Math, Science, U.S. Government, Fine Art (If not taken in 9th or 10th grade) and Electives.

Seniors must have: English, Math, Other Graduation Requirements and Electives.

*All students must carry at least 5 classes per semester and carry at least 5.25 credits for the year. It is recommended that student athletes carry 6 classes per semester - Reminders: Phys. Ed classes do not count toward athletic eligibility.

Any questions about Athletic Eligibility - see the Athletic Director. Athletes must be in school from 9:00 AM to 2:22 PM or provide a Doctor’s excuse.

Please follow the schedule you received on the first day of classes. To make a schedule change please fill out a schedule change form in the Guidance Office and return it with a Parent signature to the Guidance Office.

Schedule Changes WILL NOT be made after the 5th day of school-September 3rd. There will be no changes for lunch periods or teacher changes. If you drop an elective course the class you pick up must be in the same period. There are NO changes for required courses. You CANNOT drop a class for a Study Hall. Your CANNOT drop an Honors, AP, or College Credit plus Course. Every attempt will be made to change your schedule- BUT THERE ARE NO GUARANTEES!!

Student Athletes - NCAA eligibility requires all ACT / SAT test scores be sent directly to NCAA. When registering for ACT/SAT you must use NCAA Code 9999. If you have questions, see your guidance counselor.

ACT information is available in the Guidance Office. It is your responsibility to sign up and pay by the deadlines. You can register online @www.act.org.

SENIORS: OSU requires ACT scores sent directly from the testing agency. Please mark OSU as score recipient when registering for ACT/SAT. Other schools may require scores sent directly from ACT...check on the college website.

SENIORS: If you apply to a College/University online, you MUST let your counselor know so we can mail a transcript. Your application will not be processed without a high school transcript.

SENIORS: Please turn in a copy of your Activities Resume to the guidance office. We will use that when making student nominations for awards, etc.

PSAT test date is October 16th. The test is offered to Sophomores for practice and to Juniors for National Merit Competition. The cost is $19.00 and you can sign up and pay with Mrs. Hinkle in the Guidance Office. Sign up deadline September 18th.

CCP Information: Current sophomores and Juniors that are interested in taking College Credit Plus courses NEXT year must have the qualifying ACT scores to be eligible for the program. The February ACT date is the LAST test date that can be used for CCP qualification. That means that you have the October, December and February ACT test dates. It is your responsibility to get signed up for the ACT by the registration deadline.

You can sign up at act.org. If you need help signing up for the ACT, please see guidance.

All Students: Mrs. Haidaris and Mrs. Lauderman would like you to join HHS Guidance Google Classroom. Use the code bvdzapt to join. The guidance office is no longer using Remind.

ATTENTION JUNIORS: Youth Leadership Mahoning Valley is taking applications for their Fall Session for Juniors. If you are interested in leadership and have a heart for service, Youth Leadership may be for you. Applications are available in guidance- Completed applications are due to guidance by September 6th. There is a $200 tuition fee to participate.

SENIORS: You must purchase your Parking Pass by Thursday August 29th. The Junior class Parking lottery will be on Friday August 30th.

Attention Students: Anyone looking for Service hours, Taste of Hubbard is looking for volunteers to help throughout the day. We will need volunteers on September 29th at Harding Park from 8 am - 12 pm and 12 pm - 4 pm. There will be a sign up sheet in the Main Office. See Mrs. Puncekar.

Attention Speech and Debate Team: Speech Team members and anyone interested in joining Speech and Debate Team, there will be a meeting Wednesday August 28th, Thursday August 29th and Friday August 30th. Meeting will start at 2:30 PM in room 112.

Auditions for the Fall Play, Alice in Wonderland will be held Wednesday and Thursday, September 4th and 5th, in the auditorium from 6-8pm. Auditions will be held first come, first serve, no need to sign up ahead of time. If you have any questions or concerns, please see Ms Davis in room 202.

Attention all Seniors: Please make sure you give Ms. Eger an updated shot record which includes a Meningitis Vaccine.

S20 under Twenty Award: Awarded to outstanding students that show leadership through community service and volunteerism, academic achievement and extracurricular activities. Nominees must be residents of Trumbull county, at least a freshman in high school and no older than 19 years old as of December 1, 2019. Students will submit the 2019 Student Nomination Form along with supporting documents from a nominator. Parents may nominate students. Forms available in guidance -- Students are responsible for submitting forms to the Tribune Chronicle by September 20, 2019.

Girls Basketball will have open gym on Tuesday September 3rd from 6-8 in the High school gym. Open gym will also be held on Thursday September 5th from 4-6. Schedules for the month will be distributed at these open gyms. This is open to all girls in grades 7-12. Hope to see you there.

All Students: Homework Help will begin on Tuesday September 3rd from 2:30-3:30 in the High School Library. Homework Help will be Monday thru Thursday. Please sign in no later than 2:30 or you will not be able to participate that day.
