Hubbard High School wins awareness campaign

Hubbard High School beat out over 130 schools in Northeast Ohio to win a contest aimed at bringing awareness to dating violence.

OK, Inc. sponsored the contest in February during Dating Violence Awareness Month. They tasked schools with creating a #irepresent campaign wall that brought awareness to teen dating violence by reminding students that Love Doesn’t Have a Dark Side. Bring Abuse into the Light.

Students in Jeremy Porter’s health class learned about the contest and were excited to participate.

“The students each made a dating violence awareness poster. Then, they went out in small groups around the school to take photographs, which were added to the final video we submitted. Each class was extremely talented and creative throughout the entire process! The students here are amazing and it showed with the video they created,” said teacher Jeremy Porter.

For their efforts, the class has won a $100 gift card to purchase pizza.
