The Hubbard Exempted Village School District welcomed more than 200 community members to its annual Veterans Day celebration. Students, who have a veteran in their life, were encouraged to bring him/her to school on November 12, to enjoy breakfast and the district’s Veterans Day program, which included students singing and reading essays.
In attendance at Monday's event was Robert Pugh, a World War II veteran. Pugh is currently 92 years old. As a dedicated serviceman, Pugh is still active with retiree events. He supports and encourages young people to serve our country as Seabees. Pugh served 25 years in the US Navy and was station on the USS California during World War II. Pugh’s patriotism and compassion for serving our country was evident as he spoke to Hubbard’s students about his time in the Navy.
