Hubbard students collect over $14,000 for staff member battling cancer

Throughout the month of April, students and staff members at Hubbard Schools gathered up and donated their loose change to the Pennies for Mrs. Mahoney campaign.

The Hubbard Elementary Parent Association (HEPA) helped spearhead the friendly competition that raised over $14,072 for Donna Mahoney, who has been battling kidney and adrenal gland cancer. In addition to the loose change drive, students and staff members could pay $1 each week to participate in the fundraiser’s theme days which included pajama day, crazy hair day, mismatch day and wear red day - Mrs. Mahoney’s favorite color! HEPA also hosted a carnival for elementary students and their families. Proceeds from that event are also be donated to Mrs. Mahoney.

On Tuesday, May 10, 2022, HEPA presented Mrs. Mahoney with a check from the Pennies for Mrs. Mahoney campaign. The entire elementary school also paraded through the elementary/middle school library and around Mrs. Mahoney’s circulation desk to drop off cards to her.
