School Closure/Delayed Opening Communication and Procedures

As the winter season approaches, we want to share some reminders with families regarding our school closing and delayed opening notifications.

Two Ways Parents Are Notified of School Closings and Delayed Openings

Automated Phone Call/Text Message System

Hubbard Exempted Village School District uses an automated phone/text notification system that calls/text parents and staff when the district is closing school or delaying the opening of school.

If a parent experiences issues with the automated phone/text system – please contact:

  • Beth Mauch at 330-534-1921ext. 1010 or

  • Please state your name, your child’s name, their grade level, phone number, date of the problem and what the problem was (message cut off, didn’t receive call, etc.) and the district will work to fix the problem.

If your phone indicates a MISSED CALL from the school district, please listen to your phone messages prior to calling the school.

Announcement on Television Stations

Hubbard Exempted Village School District also shares its school closing and delayed opening information with the following TV stations: WFMJ, WKBN, Fox/Youngstown and my/YTV. While we do not have control over how fast the TV stations post the school closing and delayed opening information, they do make every effort to post the announcement as soon as they can.
