Spanish Cuisine Cook Off

Mrs. Badurik’s Spanish 4 students chose to have a Spanish Cuisine Cook-Off for their senior project this year. The class broke up into small groups and each group selected a Spanish dish to research. Upon conducting their research, each group wrote a report, created a trifold exhibit and recorded a cooking show in Spanish & English. The students spent a week in the school kitchen preparing their dishes and setting up exhibits for the day of the big event. Finally, Mr. Moriarty, Mr. Sikora, Mr. Stoffer and Mrs. Wack came to the kitchen to judge each group on their meal as well as well as their exhibit. The students had the kitchen separated into 6 mini- restaurants where they presented and discussed their meal with each judge. The ambiance of the room was stunning- complete with special lighting and Spanish dinner music. Upon enjoying the delicious food, the teachers filled out their scoresheets and the scores were tallied. The students were very dedicated throughout the course of this project and did a wonderful job of representing Spanish cuisine by choosing traditional meals with challenging recipes. The judges were very impressed by the work of all of the students. A special thank you goes out to Mrs. Sacco for graciously sharing the kitchen with our Spanish class and also to Mrs. Schellhorn for allowing the students to use the cameras and computers for filming and editing the cooking show, and of course to our excellent judges who were so complimentary to the students throughout the course of the event and forfeited their planning period in order to serve as judges. !Buen trabajo!
