Our fifth and sixth-grade students took math out of the classroom and into the kitchen! 👩🍳👨🍳🍪
By measuring, mixing and baking cookies, they got hands-on experience applying their fractions skills in a sweet way!. From half cups of sugar to quarter teaspoons of salt, every ingredient helped bring math to life. On Friday, they will enjoy their cookies while they watch a movie!

Tune in tonight on WFMJ at 6 p.m. to hear from high school intervention specialist Kayla Welsh about our Hubbard Schools Food Pantry! 📺
With the help of Kayla’s students, the pantry:
-Supplies weekly food bags to over 40 families
-Provides over 50 daily grab-and-go bags for students
When we first opened last February, we were serving just 3 families. Less than a year later, we’ve grown tremendously, thanks to the Cody A. Pitts Foundation’s $5,000 donation that got us started, and our ongoing partnership with the Second Harvest Food Bank, which keeps our shelves stocked.
Your support makes a difference! Learn how to help here: https://www.hubbard.k12.oh.us/page/hubbard-schools-pantry

Thanks to a grant awarded to Hubbard Public Library, our students were the very first to experience the new Oculus Meta Quest 2 Education Kit in the classroom! Middle school teacher Andrea Murray was the first to check out the kit for her 5th-grade computer science classes. Her students dove into virtual learning adventures with apps like:
🐸 Dissection Simulator: Frog Edition
🌍 National Geographic Explore VR
🚀 Mission: ISS
🌌 Titans of Space
🌊 Ocean Rift
These kits, now available for checkout by educational institutions at the library, offer students an immersive learning experience through VR technology. Mrs. Murray has already reserved the kit for December to introduce her 6th graders to VR. The library has also made seven individual Oculus devices available for public checkout, so students and families can explore at home, too.
We’re grateful to Hubbard Public Library for giving our students this hands-on learning opportunity!
