Hubbard Middle School debuts Drama Club

Hubbard Middle School students now have the opportunity to participate in drama club. Under the direction of teacher Mary Davis, who also serves as the high school’s drama club advisor, the middle school drama club is open to students in grades 5-8.

“I am excited about restarting the HMS Drama Club. My hope in implementing this club is that we can create a cohesive theater program for grades 5-12 similarly to Band or Choir. This creates opportunities for performing different titles that require a wide range of ages, gives younger students a platform to explore their talents and fosters a sense of community amongst students and parents in both buildings,” said teacher Mary Davis.

Through the new club, students will be able to learn about theater, hone their acting and improv skills and learn about stage operations. There will also be an opportunity for students to audition for the middle school play. Students who are chosen to perform in the play and students who are selected to work as stage crew members will also participate in weekly rehearsals leading up to the performance of So You Want to be a Cheerleader.

“We are excited Mrs. Davis has opened up this opportunity for our Middle School students. We have many talented students and look forward to seeing their efforts in January,” said principal Brian Hoffman.

The 60-minute, one act play will take place at 7 p.m. on January 21, 2022 and January 22, 2022.
