On Saturday, November 9, our middle school and high school band programs were selected to perform with the Ohio Music Education Association District 5 Honors Band at Stambaugh Auditorium. OMEA is comprised of outstanding band students in grades 7-12 from Ashtabula, Mahoning, and Trumbull Counties.
The Hubbard Middle School Band worked with Ohio-native and highly respected conductor/clinician Mr. James Dowdy.
The Hubbard High School Band worked with respected composer Mr. Mike Kamuf, who performed a world premiere piece dedicated to District 5 and the City of Youngstown entitled Steel Valley Transformation.
Both ensembles had an outstanding performance and worthwhile experience performing and working with other top students from band programs within the three counties in our district.
