Trumbull Career and Technical Center Visit

Dear Parents/Guardians of Eighth Grade Students:

Each year we provide our eighth grade students the experience of visiting and touring the Trumbull Career and Technical Center. This year's tour will take place Thursday, November 16, 2023. We will leave the middle school at approximately 10:15 am and return at 2:15 pm. Students will be eating lunch before leaving for the trip.

The TCTC is a state of the art facility that offers outstanding technical education and rigorous academics, including both honors and college credit plus courses. The TCTC offers 26 high school programs that prepare students for a career or further education. This trip to the TCTC is designed to give students an overview of the programs that are available to them and also an idea of the various careers open to them.

Attending the TCTC has traditionally been an option for students during their junior and senior years of high school. However, the TCTC has broadened their programs to include students in grades 9 and 10.

The Early Innovators Academy will be available to students in the 2024-2025 school year. The academy will offer project-based career exploration courses for ninth and tenth graders. Instruction will concentrate on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

The Early Innovators Academy will accept 50-ninth grade students for the 2024-2025 school year from all 20 partner school districts. Acceptance will be determined on a first-come, first-serve basis, and enrollment will open in early December 2023.

Students that attend the TCTC and its Early Innovators Academy will attend TCTC for a full day, but still remain a Hubbard student. Continued participation in home school extracurricular activities, sports, and events is encouraged.

Through the OneView online student information system that you update yearly, you have likely already given permission for your child to attend all field trips; this letter is merely to inform you of our trip.

If you have any questions/concerns about this field trip, please do not hesitate to contact the guidance office.

Educationally,

Toni Haidaris

School Counselor
